National Day of Prayer


The first Thursday in May is National Day of Prayer. Please join me -- go to a church service, or just keep your prayers and praises rolling all day long. Nations, leaders, churches, pastors, friends, family, teachers, kids, students, neighbors, enemies.

Second Chronicles 7:14 says:
If my people, who are called by my Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Thank you Lord for your grace and your faithfulness!! I need God's forgiveness every day. And He gives it as soon as I ask.
Psalm 103:1-5: Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy Name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits - Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, Who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Nothing New Under the Sun....

Have you seen this video clip? I've received about four of them. I'm glad they're getting circulated. She's starting up a new-age church, saying that Jesus is not the only way to salvation, which is a lie. The Bible makes it clear in John 14:6 "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' "


Yep, seems pretty clear to me anyway. King Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes that "there is nothing new under the sun," which is SO TRUE. This church of hers is just the same old New Age stuff that has been repackaged through the centuries. It is not surprising to hear of this false teaching. Second Peter 2:1-2 says that the very first church dealt with this also. "There were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed."

Rejoicing in the love our Savior has for each of us, humbled at the pain He endured because of that love, and so thankful we have a God Who is so big and so good that He has conquered our sin and any hindrances to accomplishing God's will in our lives every day. Thank you Lord!

What gets me through the day...

Just wanted to share this with you. I was recently filling out an application to take some Women's Ministry courses through Northshore Baptist Church. Several ladies from Bear Creek Community Church, where we attend, are taking advantage of this great seminary training opportunity. At the end they ask you to give a brief description of your faith journey, and it occurred to me that I'd like to share this with you all as well!

I came to believe in Jesus early, at age 7, and then dedicated my life to following Him in High School. About 7 years ago my family life and marriage became very difficult and I had to turn to the Lord for strength. He has been drawing me to Him and growing my faith through difficult trials and suffering over these past few years. Yet I have never experienced God's provision and personal grace and mercy as great before. I have never so desperately had to be on my knees before Him or had the privilege of receiving His Living Word spoken directly to my heart, quite in as breathtaking a way as He has done for me during these times. I have learned my life is not my own. It is not about my happiness or comfort. It is about following Him; it is about God receiving the glory. This is a very liberating lesson for someone who has been consumed with pursuing her own happiness for most of her life! Glory to God!

I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on your laws. 31 I hold fast to your statutes, O Lord; do not let me be put to shame. 32 I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.

100 Days!


It has been 100 days of school so far. And now it is midwinter break, so that means, I get a break too! Hope you have all been able to stay healthy. We have made it through a bad cold/flu over here, but are all getting better. Even the sun peeked through the clouds a few times today.

I found a fun artist-inspired shop in Mill Creek. It's called "Musings" and they sell art and fine craft from local artists. Looking for an opportunity to sell my paintings there, if it works out. Also, will be starting to serve on the worship team at our church. Starting tomorrow. Wow....God moves fast sometimes! Some things have been so long in waiting...the circumstances seem to be halted or get worse. Definitely not better. Then when you least expect it, God will decide it's time for something to happen in a different area of your life and boom...there you are, moving in a new direction through His open door. Thank you Lord!

Brrrr....January.....I think I'll collage!

It has been a great day. Sunshiny, but too cold to go out. Perfect day for making stuff. Currently listening to: "The Best of Donny McClurkin" gospel. Awesome CD. A pot roast is simmering in the crock pot, and several projects are on the art table. Favorite candle burning in my studio: orangey, spicy and clovey. Is "clovey" a word? Oh well. I am trying a new technique for some paintings, that was shown in this month's issue of Cloth Paper Scissors and it is so fun! I also just got Traci Bautista's book Collage Unleashed, and have been doing lots of doodling in my large size sketchbook, as well as some mixed media postcards. I wanted to do some valentine postcards, and in looking around for some images, I found an old community activities guide. There were the neatest black and white photos of kids and adults doing activities together. I think this shows love in a great way that's not overly romanticized as most valentine cards portray. I want to celebrate that every day kind of practical REAL love that is all around us. Of course it all comes from God, but He is so creative in how He expresses His love for us, and also through us to others.

Ephesians 3:16-21


Blessings to you all. Here is a special piece for someone very dear to many. It is Ephesians 3:16-21 painted in acrylics and mixed media on a 14" X 11" canvas. The verse reads as follows.
I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge -- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen. (NIV)
This verse is so encouraging. It anchors our faith, reminding us that God Himself strengthens us, and it paints a picture of the magnitude, beauty and power of Jesus' love for us. And that great powerful love is expressed through us as individuals, but also through believers gathered together, yet another dimension of the expression of God's love and provision, strength and power to accomplish His will.
